1999 Productions

This is not an exhaustive list, but lists all of the productions that came to the attention of the Miller Society during this year. We list professional, semi-professional, community and college productions, but do not include High School productions.

    •    Broken Glass 19 Nov.-18 Dec. Actors Theatre of San Francisco, 533 Sutter Street, Union Square, CA presents the Bay Area premiere of the play. Directed by Robert Elross. Tickets: $20 Box office: (415) 296-9179. Read a review.

    •    A View From the Bridge new opera version by William Bolcom, libretto by Arthur Miller and Arnold Weinstein. Conducted by Dennis Russell Davies, directed by Frank Galati at Lyric Opera House, Chicago. Oct-5th through Nov.

    •    Two Way Mirror 28 Sept.-2 Oct. at The Old Fire Station Theatre, Oxford, England.
    •    Broken Glass The BBC World Service will broadcast a two-hour radio version of Miller’s Broken Glass in two episodes In August. Henry Goodman, Ken Stott and Margot Leicester star in a two part radio version of a production first mounted at Britain’s Royal National Theatre. Director: David Thacker. In the United States, this performance should air on Saturday, August 14 and on Saturday, August 21, 1999.

    •    All My Sons. St. Louis Shakespeare Company, St. Louis, Missouri. July – August, 1999.
    •    The Crucible. Haddonfield Plays and Players, Haddonfield, New Jersey. September – October, 1999.
    •    The Crucible. Main Street Theatre Works, Sutter Creek, California. September – October, 1999.
•     Death of a Salesman. The Carrollwood Players, North Tampa, Florida. June 4-26, 1999.
•     Death of a Salesman. Winner of four 1999 Tony Awards (Best Revival, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Director), this fiftieth anniversary production is currently running at the Eugene O’Neill theater on Broadway. Directed by Robert Falls, and starring Brian Dennehy, Kevin Anderson, and Elizabeth Franz, this production was premiered at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago on Sept. 28, 1998.
